Angel Jaaung Easter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Angel JaAung Easter, who was called to her heavenly home on August 21, 2023. Born on March 21, 2009, Angel's bright light graced this world for just 14 years, leaving behind an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Angel was a remarkable young girl, the first Burmese/American girl born in Des Moines, IA. She was a beacon of joy and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand to her family and friends. Her departure at such a tender age reminds us that even the most beautiful flowers are meant to bloom in eternity's garden.

From her early years, Angel attended Saint Anthony’s and Holy Trinity Elementary Schools, where she exemplified kindness and excellence. She later embarked on her journey through Johnston Middle School, where her talents shone brightly, both academically and creatively. She was an exceptional friend, blessed with an innate ability to connect with others, leaving smiles and laughter in her wake.

Angel's passion for life was palpable. She was an enthusiastic dancer and a skilled pianist, finding solace and expression in music. Her creativity extended to making music videos, which she lovingly shared with her family and friends. She reveled in outdoor activities and sports, her athleticism and determination painting a picture of a promising future as an athlete. She was a runner, a dreamer, and a source of inspiration for those around her. Angel loved taking her father to Bath and Body Works to help him pick out the newest scents.

Her connection to faith was evident through her involvement in church activities. From the Wednesday services at Mission Christian Church to the Sundays spent with her family at Myanmar Christian Community Church, Angel's spirit thrived in her spiritual community. Her involvement in the church choir and various activities was a testament to her faith and her desire to make a positive impact.

Angel's infectious smile and gentle demeanor were a reflection of the love and warmth she carried within her. She was an adoring sister to her two younger brothers, Ephraim and Jeremiah, and a devoted daughter to her parents, John Easter III and Lum Nan. She embraced her heritage with pride, enjoying Burmese cuisine and family gatherings.

In her brief time with us, Angel expressed aspirations of becoming a beauty pageant contestant and learning the trade of beauty from her mother. Her determination and eagerness were evident in her willingness to assist her mother and friends with manicures, a skill that showcased her nurturing spirit.

Angel's radiant presence and kind heart will be eternally missed by her family, friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. While her physical presence is no longer with us, her memory and spirit will forever be engraved in our hearts.

She is survived by her father, John Easter III; mother, Lum Nan (step-father, Min Thu Tun); brothers, Ephraim Sut Tun and Jeremiah Sut Ring Naw; maternal grandmother, Karol Easter; paternal grandfather, Dau Lum; aunts and uncles, Cindy Easter, Michelle Easter, Lun Naw, Min Tun, and Lum Ze; and a host of cousins and friends.

Angel was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ja Ra, and paternal grandfather, John Easter Jr.

As we mourn the loss of this precious soul, let us remember Angel's infectious laughter, her boundless kindness, and her unwavering faith. While she now rests among the angels, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. Until we meet again, our sweet Angel, may you find eternal peace and happiness in the arms of the divine.
