Bellezora Lucas

March 16, 1924 — April 17, 2009

Bellezora was born March 16, 1924 in Madison County, Iowa the daughter of Joe and Ocein (Meade) Cooper. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1941 and her marriage to Clarence Lucas took place on February 17, 1942 in Missouri. She was preceded in death by daughter Karen Woods, parents, Joe and Ocein Cooper; and eight brothers and sisters; Willard Cooper, Harold Cooper, Wayne Cooper, Alvin Cooper, Emery Cooper, Mae Lutz, Josephine Clark and Grace Atkins. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Winterset and was active in several bridge clubs and various social and service clubs throughout the years. She loved playing bridge and enjoyed reading and walking. She and Clarence traveled extensively around the world; including several cruises. She was an excellent cook but most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Bellezora is survived by her husband, Clarence Lucas of Winterset; three daughters, Dianna Jencks of North Canton, OH; Kristin Hibbs and her husband, Dale of Iowa City; Marsha Freed of Winterset; a son-in-law, Bruce Woods of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. April 20, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at United Methodist Church, Winterset, Iowa. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madison County Historical Society.
