Bernie James Blakeman

Bernard "Bernie" Blakeman, age 66 of Boone, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, surrounded by his family in Boone, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Linden, IA. Memorials will be given to family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Bernard " Bernie " James Blakeman was born on December 9, 1955, in Council Bluffs, IA to Frank Mason and Mary (Conlon) Blakeman. He graduated from Valley High School with the class of 1974 and then attended a Technical Institute in West Des Moines, IA, studying electronic systems. He was united in marriage to Cindy Heinz in Dawson, IA on April 30, 1988. Bernie worked at Per Mar Security for over 30 years. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading books, long chats over a cup of coffee, and spending time with his kids and family. Bernie especially loved being a grandpa. In death he rejoins his parents Frank and Mary Blakeman, a sister Ann Marie Blakeman, a brother Christopher Blakeman, and a daughter-in-law Charity Blakeman. Left to cherish Bernies memory are his children, Melinda Blakeman, Luke Blakeman and Elizabeth Blakeman, granddaughter, Nara Blakeman, siblings, Tim (Roberta) Blakeman, Mary (Steve) Heckman, Margaret (Don) Burke and Amy (Scott) Groenenboom.
