Bill Deering - Adel

On May 30, 2013, William H. Deering, Jr. 67, passed this life after a long and valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born January 21, 1946 in Des Moines, IA to Howard & Francis Deering. He was a long-time resident of the Adel-DeSoto area. Bill was very active & had a love for scuba diving, bicycling, & horseback riding. He was proud to have been the dive master for Central Campus marine biology class to Florida for 15 years. One of Bill's favorite hobbies was photography. His best & biggest accomplishment in his life (his words) were his pride & joy ---- his two daughters. He is survived by his wife, Lana; two daughters, Kylee a brother, Louis (Annette); mother and father-in-law, Eva and Rex Wyckoff; sister-in-law, Brenda Morehouse; brother-in-law, Gary Wyckoff (Nancy); many nieces, nephews, & cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred & Maxine. A celebration of Bill's life will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Otterman Cemetery near Adel. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Bill Deering Memorial Fund at Liberty Bank in West Des Moines.
