Bill Wignall, 63, of Winterset, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017, after a courageous battle with melanoma brain cancer at the West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Union State Bank Community Room, Hwy 92, Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the family. William Ray Wignall, son of Roy and Maxine (Deney) Wignall, was born July 28, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1972. Bill was united in marriage with Debra Weiss on May 8, 1976, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Bill ran a construction distribution warehouse in Colorado for a number of years before the couple moved to Winterset in 2003 to own and operate the Gutter Shop. While in Colorado, Bill enjoyed playing the rhythm guitar in the band, From Scratch. Bill and Deb loved to travel with their campers and lived a life of adventure all across the United States. Bill also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was a talented baker, strawberry rhubarb pie being his specialty. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, brother and friend who cherished the time spent with the ones he loved. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Deb Wignall of Winterset; sisters, JoAnn (Steve) Robinson of Dyer, NV; Joyce (Dan) Seeley of Broomfield, CO; brothers, Larry (Marilyn) Wignall of Des Moines; David (Bev) Wignall of Des Moines, nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maxine Wignall; brother, Dwayne Wignall and sister, Gloria Wright.
