Clarence James Kulish I, age 99, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.
Clarence was born in Chickasaw County, Iowa on October 25, 1924, the son of James W. and Rose I. (Shores) Kulish. He served in the US Army during WWII and married Alice Mahanesmith at the Army Post in Ft. Riley, Kansas in 1945. He lived in Waterloo, Iowa since 1945 and moved to Winterset two years ago.
Clarence retired as a machinist for John Deere. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa.
He is survived by a son, Clarence J. Kulish II (Georgia) of Des Moines; a daughter, Juanita K. Matthias (Daniel) of Winterset; grandchildren, Ryan D. Matthias (Emilie) of Van Meter, Chris Kulish of Bondurant, Clarence J. Kulish III (Julie) of Altoona; great-grandchildren, Delphina and Lilly Matthias, Sophia Kulish, Shelby and Cory Rose Kulish, and Rachel of South Carolina; and a brother, Don Kulish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; great-grandson, Garrett Matthias; parents, James, and Rose Kulish; brothers, Walter Kulish and Virgil Kulish; and a sister, Angeline Guy.
