Daniel Oliver

August 2, 1937 — February 11, 2024

Daniel Edgar Alfonzo Oliver, 86 years old, of Apolo, Bolivia, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024 surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Daniel was called back to his heavenly home to join his mother, father, brother and his loyal companions, Kusi & Mr. Mitch, the cats. In life he held many titles but the most important to him were those of husband, father and grandfather.

He was survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shandra, his children Marcos (Consuelo), Brandi (Mike), Jennifer, Connie (Omar), and Danny (Cazandra); his twenty grandchildren; Diego, Alvaro, Melanie, Jackie, Alessandra, Carla, Cherie, CJ, Jazmine, Cheyenne, Dannielle, Brandon, Massiel, Renzo, Fiorella, Sofia, Sebastian, Adela, Gisela, y Luccianno; His twenty-five great grandchildren Samirha (15), Nicole (13), Zeke (12), Eli (11), Noah P. (11), Harper (10), Liam (9), Benjamin (9), Everly (8), Jhojan (8), Hayden (8), Bryce (7), Fabrizio (7), Noah W. (6), Derek (5), Ezra (5), Henry (4), Jessie (4), Campbell (3), Luciana (3), Tate (3), Jaren (2), Everett (2) Gabe (1), Lyla (6 mo.).

A diabetic, he could always be counted on to slip candies to each of his grandchildren with instructions of “don’t tell your mother!” Daniel loved to eat. He believed that life could not be fully enjoyed unless there was a good meal to be shared in the process.

Dad was an adventurer who was happiest riding the Bolivian savannas on horseback, trekking through the Amazon rainforest and sleeping under a mosquito net on the jungle floor. He found peace listening to the wild calls of the southern screamer, the guttural roar of the howler monkeys and the purring growl of the ocelot.

Dad felt a personal call to help those less fortunate than himself and would often be found serving at jails, homeless shelters and nursing homes, helping them know of the mercy and love that God had for them.

His last wishes were to see his brothers and sisters join the church because his love for them transcended this life. Daniel is now and will always be missed greatly but his family is comforted in knowing they will reunite with him after their earthly sojourn is complete.

The lyrics of his favorite hymn O My Father ring in our hearts as he has moved on from this earthly sphere; “O my Father, thou that dwellest in the high and glorious place, when shall I regain thy presence and again behold thy face?...when I’ve completed all you sent me forth to do, with your mutual approbation let me come and dwell with you.”

Till we meet again, dad.
