David Donald Hendricks

David Hendricks, 74, of Adel, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, IA. A visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will take place after the service at the Blair Chapel Cemetery in rural Madison County.

David was born April 29, 1948 to Keith and Madeline Hendricks in Tacoma, WA. Their family moved to Iowa where he graduated high school from Jefferson High School in 1968. After graduating, David enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country from 1970-72. In 1994, David married Joyce Morris and they spent over 20 years together. He spent most of his working career employed through Meredith Publishing Co.

David lived life to the fullest surrounded by his many friends and family. One of David’s biggest passions was the car culture. David LOVED to go fast! From antiques to hot rods and race cars, he liked them all. David happiest times were spent behind the wheel.

He is survived by his brother, Dennis (Janet) Hendrick; step daughter, Julie (Jared) Morris and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Keith and Madeline; sister, Diane Wise; and brother-in-law, David Wise.
