Donna Lee Shaffer

Donna Shaffer, of Winterset, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Azria Health in Winterset. She was 78.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the McGinnis Cemetery in rural Madison County. Memorial contributions may be sent to AHeinz57 Pet Rescue in De Soto.

Donna was born on October 24, 1944 to LaVerne and Cleta (O’Connell) Ricke at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. In 1962, she married Ronald Shaffer. Donna worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for a majority of her life.

Donna was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and loved being around horses and other animals. She was very involved with her family, cooking and making sure everyone was taken care of. She enjoyed spending her time at home with her family.

Donna leaves behind her two children, Ron “Jake” Shaffer (Debbie Miles), and Ronda (Mark) McKeever; grandchildren, Kylee (Justin) Henderson, Laramie Shaffer, Dakota Shaffer (Maty Dillon), Kile (Laken) Callahan, Clayton Callahan (Amanda Auten), and Jamilee (Mikel) Pickett; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Diana (Frank) Richenbacker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents; her stepdad, Leo Watson; grandson, Josh Callahan; and an infant sister.
