Douglas Lyle Williams was born on February 14th, 1962, in East Prairie, Missouri to the late Lloyd Buford and Jessie Willine Jackson Williams. As a child, Douglas liked to fish and be in the outdoors, which he continued throughout his life. He shared with me that his mom used to save green stamps and put them in a book back in the day that you could “buy” things with. His mother gave him and his little brother a choice to pick what they wanted. His brother chose a blow-up punch toy, and Douglas chose a Bible. God’s word was important to him at an early age. At the age of 24, he was so grateful to be added to the Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas. He was a changed man and so very grateful for it. Douglas was a faithful striving servant. He loved to fellowship with his brethren, and he loved being a Christian. His heart’s desire was to help the church in any way he could. Whether it was cleaning and maintaining the building of the church or helping the brethren and spending time with the kids that he loved so dearly. Our loving God gave him his heart’s desire to move to Iowa to help the church here. He was sentimental, saving tokens from meetings. He loved poetry, his laugh was contagious, and he had a good sense of humor. He was a loving husband and father, always making time for those he loved. His work ethic was incredible, always striving to go above and beyond to do that which was expected of him. He always gave his best to please his God and those he worked for. The CEO of his company said he made a tremendous impact in his job and on their client. Even unto his death he was helping others. In helping to push a car stuck in snow uphill, he suffered a heart attack. To the end, such a wonderful example. We will miss him dearly. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Albert, Larry, Kenneth and Roger Williams. In addition to his wife, Suzanne. He is survived by two sons; Eric Williams of San Antonio, TX and Kye Williams of West Des Moines, IA. One stepson; Joshua Vollmer (Tiffany) and Five step granddaughters all of Logan, UT. One daughter; Kailani Williams of West Des Moines, IA. Two stepdaughters; Tiana Coots of Norfolk, VA and Tara Coots of Austin, TX. Two brothers; Lloyd Jan Williams (Carol) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Tony Williams (Suzie)Columbia, TN and two sisters; Janie Bernice Rees(Lavern) Murphysboro, IL and Linda Kay Beardsley (Don) Sikeston, MO.
