Eldora Mahan was born April 15, 1916 in Winterset to Earl and Anna (Hildebrand) Mahan. After her father’s death at a young age, she was raised by Anna and Charlie Allen. Eldora was united in marriage to William ‘Bill’ Parker on January 20, 1934. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Gailen) Palmer of Des Moines and Linda Jones of Tacoma, WA; four grandchildren, David (Theresa) Palmer of Pleasant Hill; Steve Palmer of Des Moines; Shannon Jones and Robyn (Dan) Conroy all of Tacoma, WA; four great grandchildren, Chantel Palmer of West Des Moines; David James of Pleasant Hill; Christina Palmer of Pleasant Hill, and William Conroy of Tacoma WA; 2 sisters, Vivian Orr and Jean Lehman of Winterset; 2 brothers, Wayne (JoAnn) Allen of Winterset; Bob Allen and friend Glennore Parker of Macksburg and many nieces and nephews. Eldora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; an infant daughter, Delores Irene; and 2 sisters, Margaret Flesher and Doris Olsen. Eldora was a homemaker and worked several years at North Care Center in Winterset. She enjoyed her family, cooking, making quilts, square dancing and activities at the nursing home. Eldora passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, where she had been a resident since August of 2004. She was 89. Visitation: 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, where family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., March 27, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Service: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the funeral home. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madison County Meal Site for a ‘pie day’, North McDonald Cemetery, Iowa Hospice of Johnston, or Regency Care Center for activities.
