Gerald Leo Wright

Gerald L. Wright "Gary" (November 23, 1940- February 12, 2023). He was born to Leo and Clella Wright. Gary was a lifelong resident of Greene County, Iowa. He graduated in 1961 from Jefferson High School. Gary lived in the family home and cared for his parents until their death. In 1989 Gary met and married Nancy Brandenburg. Gary spent his life as a farmer, gardener, handyman, landlord, and recycler. Gary was always proud of his large garden and shared his produce with friends and family. Gary loved to attend the car races in Boone. In his 82 years he was independent, and caring. He is survived by his sister Barbara Winkelman of Churdan, IA, nieces Nancy (Dick) Boudrie of New Mexico, and Diana May (Gary Howard) of Newton, IA, and stepdaughter Sandra May of Palmetto, FL. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Clella Wright, and his partner Nancy Wright. Celebration of Life Services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Pastor J. Alexander of the Central Christian Church provided words of comfort.
