Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge of arrangements for Harold Harrison Herron, 63, of Jefferson. Harold died at his home Thursday. He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Jill Johnson of Jefferson and 3 grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson with burial in Junction Township Cemetery near Grand Junction. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hastings Funeral Home with the family present 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home. Harold Harrison Herron, son of Aaron Herron and Elsie Cole Herron, was born April 9, 1948 in Jefferson, Iowa and died September 1, 2011 at his home in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 63. Harold graduated from Bayard High School. He served in the U.S. Army, and spent 18 months in Vietnam. Harold married Cynthia Wright on October 8, 1972. They were parents of one daughter, Jill. The couple lived in Jefferson and moved to Grand Junction in 1978. Harold and Cindy moved back to Jefferson 11 years ago. Harold had worked at the Block Plant in Jefferson, Franklin Manufacturing, and AMF. He retired in 2008 due to his declining health. Harold spent many years picking up walnuts, thousands of them, and delivering them to Sparks in Beaver. Harold enjoyed going to flea markets, playing Bingo and teasing his grandchildren, whom he adored. He collected Pepsi memorabilia, and watching television. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Guthrie Center, lifetime member of the VFW in Jefferson and the DAV in Fort Dodge. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Wilbur, sister Linda Jacobson, and parents-in-law Jay Franklin and Dorothy Wright. Harold will be greatly missed by his wife Cindy of Jefferson, daughter Jill Johnson and her husband Erick of Jefferson, three grandchildren Skylar, Mickayla, and Shelby Johnson, two brothers-in-law Larry Wright Sr. and his wife Diane of Pine River, Minnesota; and Terry Wright of Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
