Harvey "Gene" Briley

Harvey Eugene (Gene) Briley passed away at the age of 80 years old on Sunday, September 15th at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation. Services will be Thursday, September 19th at 10 a.m. with family receiving friends from 9 and until 10 a.m. Interment will be at Highpoint Cemetery outside of Leon, Iowa at 12:30 p.m. Gene was born to William J Briley and Cornelia (Votee) Briley on October 5th, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa. Gene was a lifelong Iowa resident living in many places throughout his life. He spent the last 25 years in Winterset. He held many jobs throughout his life including farming, painting, forklift driver and working in an apple orchard. He was most proud of raising his 4 kids. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a granddaughter (Tessa Marie). He is survived by his children; Tim Briley of Pleasantville, Penny Jurgensen of Grimes, Tammy (Dave) McKinney of Lorimor, and Steve (Tracy) Briley of Newton. His grandchildren; Jessica, Paige, Tiffany, Bryant, Caelyn, Seth, Treven and Neva as well as great grandchildren; Ashton, Aiden and Remy and other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation.
