James Hufferd

James Hufferd, 74, of Adel passed away on May 18, 2020 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A family graveside service is planned for a later date and inurnment will be in Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids, where he spent his early years and his parents are laid to rest. Jim was born on March 27, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa. Jim moved with his parents from Coon Rapids to the family farm north of Adel in 1960. He graduated from Adel High School in 1965, received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, a master’s degree from the University of Wyoming in international travels, and a doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota in geography. Jim was an author and wrote many books during his adult years, having several published and available on Amazon. He taught college classes in San Luis Obispo among others. He enjoyed Iowa State athletics and traveled widely during his life, visiting many countries over the years. Jim is survived by his sister, Joanie Olson and her husband, Stan of Adel as well as nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mildred Hufferd, and two brothers, Philip and David.
