Janet Elaine Eisenbarth, 70, went home to meet the Lord on July 6, 2022 surrounded by family. She was the fourth of nine children born to Clarence and Wilma Eisenbarth of Livermore, Iowa. Janet graduated from Twin Rivers High School and Clarke College in Dubuque. She taught third grade for a couple of years before working as a secretary/receptionist for a West Des Moines real estate office. She retired in 2016 from the State Department of Iowa in the Office of Elder Affairs. Janet was a “gamer”. She loved playing cards, especially Cribbage and Hearts, and board games such as Scrabble and Sequence, etc. She also enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and rarely missed Jeopardy! She loved going to dinner with friends and family. Her particularly favorite foods were a Chinese buffet, broasted chicken, and anything chocolate. Janet was creative in organizing and completing projects such as her family Christmas stockings and added to them as the family grew (30+). She once wrote a poem for her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary entitled “Eleven is Heaven”. Throughout her lifetime, Janet experienced health challenges and faced each one with fortitude, perseverance, courage, and strength from the Lord. Janet lived a simple and practical life. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wilma Eisenbarth; her brother, Gary; and her long-time friend, Wayne Cook. She is survived by sister, Jeanne Eisenbarth; sister, Nancy Buttel; brother, Tom (Jan) Eisenbarth; sister, Susan (Dirk) Underwood; brother, Greg (Joan) Eisenbarth; sister, Amy (Sam) Hinderks; sister, Marla (Perry) Buffington; and many nieces and nephews. A prayer vigil service will be from 4:00 – 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale, with a Rosary starting at 3:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale with a visitation starting at 9:30 AM at the church. The graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Livermore, Iowa. Memorials may be sent to the family.
