Jennifer Dougherty

Jennifer Lynn (Welch) Dougherty passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on November 8, 2023.

Jennifer was born August 24, 1959 in Waterloo, Iowa to Patricia (Stark) and Craig Welch. Later in life Jennifer discovered her biological father Jerald Carson and spoke highly of him and his family, especially her new found half siblings.

Jennifer was an avid gardener and Hawkeye fan and couldn’t imagine a better day than flowers, football and a cocktail in hand. Her pride and joy were her three children Eleanor, Nicholas and Finan. When asked who her favorite child was she always joked “ElieNickFinn!” The only thing she loved more than her children was her beloved chihuahua, Hank.

Jennifer is survived by her children, her ex-husband Kevin Dougherty and her siblings Jeffrey (Beth), Jason, Jocelyn (Greg) and Jonathan Welch along with Denise (Carson) Huisman and Christopher Carson. Also surviving are her many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Jennifer is preceded in death by Patricia and Craig Welch, Faye Carson, brother Curtis Welch and all of her grandparents, with special love directed to Genevieve Stark.

As Jennifer was not one for formalities no funeral will be held, instead a celebration of life will be held December 16, 2023 at 2pm at the Front Row 9956 Swanson Blvd Clive, IA 50325.
