John “Ted” Sweeney, 59, was under the care of Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, when entered into eternal peace on Thursday, November 18 2021 after a long illness. Ted was born August 28, 1962 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Kenneth J and Sally A Sweeney. He graduated from Urbandale High School in 1981. Ted was a jack-of-all-trades working in Lawn Care and Home Improvement throughout his career. In his free time, Ted enjoyed fishing and working on cars with his boys. Ted was always available to lend a helping hand for his friends and family. He will be missed by his daughters, Pamela (Jeff) Kirklin, Stephanie (Matt) Winter, Stephanie Ennis; sons, Jared Ennis and Brady Ennis; grandchildren, Kennedy and Kole Kirklin, Oliver, Emma and Charlotte Winter, Nathan, Jonathan and Courtney Ennis-Braswell; mother, Sally Sweeney; brother, Scott (Libby) Sweeney; sisters, Regina (Don) Vestal, Marisa Beal and Janell Sweeney as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by the mother of his boys, Laurie Ennis; special friend, Lisa Brosi and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth J Sweeney and his grandparents. A celebration of life will be from 5-8pm on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale. His humor and genuine compassion will be missed dearly.
