June Weeks, 99, of Winterset died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Winterset Care Center North. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at the United Methodist Church in Peru with a reception to immediately follow. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Peru and memorials may be directed to the Peru Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Gertrude June Brown, the daughter of Jess and Johanne (Tobiesen) Brown was born April 28, 1918, near Atlantic in Brighton Township, Cass County, Iowa. She graduated from Anita High School in 1937 and attended Simpson College. Her marriage to Garald Weeks took place on December 8, 1942, in Bethany, MO. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2000. June taught country school at Tobacco Ridge, Quail Trap schools and later for the Peru Consolidated School. June and Garald enjoyed rock collecting and wintering in Arizona for many years. She is survived by her sister, Glee Anderson of Atlantic, brother, Mark (Sandy) Brown of Macksburg, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. June was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Hazel Reed and a brother, Jess Brown.
