Larry Conklin

On July 12th, 2021, at the age of 88, Larry was released from the confusion and frustration of dementia. He was born on January 30, 1933 to Richard and Edith Conklin in Creston, Iowa. Larry started his racing career at the Pioneer Raceway circle track. He started his figure 8 racing in Indianola, What Cheer, Sigourney, and Barnes City. At the age of 82, he ran his final race at his favorite track…the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel. Larry is survived by his wife Kathy; two sons, Roger (Okie) Fouse and Leslie Conklin (Twyla); brother-in-law, Dwight Ellis; nieces, Robin Gurwell, Kelly Wernli (Matt); nephews, Tim Ellis (Gay), and Ali Ellis (Karen); and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Memorials may be made to the Dallas County Fairgrounds, Adel, Iowa or to the ARL of Central Iowa.
