Larry Ryner

William Larry Ryner, 69, died at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri on August 14, 2020 from complications of a stroke. He was a resident of Independence, Missouri for the last 35 years, living previously in Des Moines, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Winterset Chapel, with a memorial service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the North McDonald Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the North McDonald Cemetery Association (c/o Dan Ryner, 1776 N. River Trail, Winterset, IA 50273). Larry was born June 15, 1951 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa, the middle son of William and Catherine Ryner; growing up on the family farm and graduating from WHS in the class of 1969. Playing both the saxophone and bassoon in the high school band was his youthful passion. Larry attended Clarinda Jr. College in Clarinda, Iowa and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Missouri in 1974. He taught at Christ the King School in Des Moines, Iowa then worked at Tandy Leather Stores in Des Moines, Kansas City and Oklahoma City. He returned to live in Independence, Missouri in the mid-80s to work for both Reliable Ins. Co. and Pinkerton/Securitas Security Companies. He is survived by a brother, Dan Ryner (Lori) of Winterset, Iowa; nieces, Kelly Schnoebelen of Iowa City, Iowa, Corie Frasson of Gahanna, Ohio, and Amanda Ryner of Winterset, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Ryner of Winterset, Iowa and a brother, Richard Ryner (Claudia) of Huxley, Iowa.
