Marnie was born in a farm home south of Morton Mills, Iowa, on September 13, 1929, the daughter of Nels Falke and Mabel Focht Westerlund. She peacefully passed away on February 12, 2021. Upon graduation from Red Oak High School in 1947, she worked as a secretary for the Department of Social Services until her marriage to Roy Harris in 1950. From this union three children were born: Jill Coleman (Robert) of Asheville, NC, Kim Harris and Mark Harris both of Earlham. She and Roy and family made their home in Earlham and Marnie worked as bookkeeper for Harris & Sons Construction for many years. She was also a cost analyst for Bilt-Rite homes in Des Moines for several years. In 1985 she retired and moved to Jefferson, Iowa, where she volunteered at the Greene County Medical Center, made many new friends and played lots of bridge. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandchildren and adults, belonging to bridge clubs in Earlham, Jefferson and Winterset; the latter where she made more new friends and greatly enjoyed being a tour guide at the John Wayne Birthplace for several years. Marnie also loved ballroom dancing, embroidery and reading. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her first husband, Roy Harris, second husband, Chuck Jurgensen, brother Ross Westerlund (Evelyn), sister Thelma Askloff (Walter), sister Phyllis Apple Gubser (Darwin) and beloved nieces, Bette Murray and Barb Nevitt. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and five grandchildren, Drew and Reid Harris, Jennifer Evers, Christin and Heath Tasler. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 21st, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 am at Earlham First Presbyterian Church, 255 E 1st St., Earlham, IA. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at Earlham First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow the memorial service at Earlham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham or Madison County Hospital.
