Martha Grace Grove

Martha Grace Grove passed away at Mercy Hospice in Johnston on September 5, 2015. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at the Glendale Cemetery. She was the youngest daughter of Hilda E. Boys and Houston L. Boys, who preceded her in death. Martha was born in Creston Iowa on October 15, 1934. She moved to Des Moines in 1940 where she attended the Des Moines Public Schools. She subsequently earned a B.S. in Education from Drake University and an M.A. in Education from Colorado College of Education. This led to her employment as a primary teacher for the Des Moines Public Schools until her retirement in 1995. Martha was married to Chuck Grove for 45 years. She enjoyed raising African Violets and adored her little dogs. She was an accomplished seamstress and a superb knitter. She also enjoyed reading and working on her computers. Martha is survived by her husband Chuck, her sisters Virginia and Margaret and her stepchildren Deb, Vicki, Rick and Gayle and their respective families, including 10 grandchildren.
