Martha Joann Irwin

Martha JoAnn Hidlebaugh Irwin, 87, of Redfield, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Lakeside Village in Panora. There will be a private burial, prior to the memorial service, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Van Meter. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Eugene. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel on Friday, July 15th, 2022. Martha was born December 5, 1934, to Gladys & Olen Hidlebaugh, in Bagley, Iowa. Their family moved to DeSoto, Iowa where she graduated from DeSoto Consolidated School District in the spring of 1952. Following graduation, she went to work for Ohio Casualty Insurance Company as a Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance Rater. After 16 years, at Ohio Casualty, she moved onto Chuck Brooks Insurance Agency, later called Brooks-Lussem Insurance, where she eventually became Vice President of the Agency. She retired December 30, 1999. Martha had several hobbies, some of which included hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening & nature walks. She also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and she was a very vocal fan. First and foremost, she cherished time spent with family! Her legacy will continue on in the hearts and minds of her daughters, Sheryl (Paul) Fountas, Pat (Dave) Griffith, Maria (Jack) Ganoe, and Kathy (Rodger) McLaughlin; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Midwest.
