Martha Marie "Peggy" Marsh, daughter of Leonard George and Icy Lantz, was born in Gladbrook, Iowa on April 7, 1917, and died January 2, Marinette, Wisconsin, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, 25 days. A celebration of life service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 7, Hastings Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa. Word of comfort were provided by Pastor Alan George of the New Richmond United Methodist Church, New Richmond, Wisconsin. Bob Cairns, Rodney Olerich, Jim Hall, Michael Olerich, Bob Dvorak, Scott Olerich, Charles Rice and Merritt Stream were casket bearers. Laura McKnight was pianist and Rev. Robert McKnight was soloist, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow and He Touched Me the hymns were Be Thou My Vision, Softly And Tenderly, Precious Lord, Take My Hand and Because He Lives. The burial was in the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa. Before moving with her family in 1935 to Middle Inlet, Wisconsin, Peggy was a student in Jefferson Public School. Peggy and Thomas Merritt Marsh were married on May 22, 1944 in Beaver, Iowa. Together they farmed thirty three acres near Scranton, Iowa. They were active in The Wesleyan Church of Guthrie Center and The Society of Friends in Scranton. Between 1973 and 1982 Peggy was employed by Greene County Medical Center. She also really enjoyed working as a beautician. Tom and Peg often wintered in Arizona and California. After Tom's death on January 6, 1993, Peggy moved to Marinette, Wisconsin. In 2002 Peggy entered Northland Lutheran Retirement Community in Marinette and resided there until her death on January 2, 2011. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Irene Cole and Dorothy Bulthius; brothers, Leonard, Orval, Roy and Marvin George. Peggy is survived by her brother-in-law Edward Marsh (Grayce) of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Florence Marsh of Scranton; and by nieces and nephews in Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas and California. Memorial gifts may be directed to The United Methodist Committee on Relief for Haiti. Everyone was invited to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Uptown Caf following the service at the cemetery
