Mary Joslyn

November 8, 1944 — January 7, 2022

Mary J. Joslyn passed away in hospice care on Friday, January 7, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Beaver Avenue, with visitation one hour prior, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a rosary to be recited at 9:35. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Puppy Jake Foundation- an organization that provides trained service dogs to veterans (a recipient of which is her son-in-law, Marc). Mary was born November 8, 1944, in Farmingdale, New York, to Joseph and Ann Goscinski. She married the love of her life, Keith, on June 22, 1963, and they moved to Bristol, Virginia in 1978. Mary worked for Bristol Ballet Company for over ten years doing accounts receivable, where her daughter Kristine was a dancer. Mary loved watching her daughters play flute in the band, dance ballet, and act during their high school years. She took joy in becoming a grandmother and made many beautiful, hand-crafted dresses for her granddaughters when they were tiny. In later years, she gardened with Keith, taking particular pride in the green beans they loved to tend and eat. She and Keith moved to Iowa in 2013, when Keith’s kidney disease required more care than they could manage and lived there until he passed away in 2015. A few months after his death she relocated to Madison, Alabama, where she could enjoy the warmer climate. Mary’s great joy in her later years was doing puzzles and feeding the birds, her porch was full of bird feeders and plants. Mary is survived by her daughters; Melissa Lowe (widow to Randy), Kristine Taff (Adrian), and Michelle Helm (Marc), grandchildren Jason VanDyke, Stephanie Lowe, Briana Lowe, Hannah (Chase) Land, Harrison Taff, Sophia Taff, Hazel Helm and Violet Helm, and one great granddaughter, Haley VanDyke, and one sister, Theresa Mallamo.
