Mary Lou Foley

Mary Lou Foley, 84, of Winterset, died Monday, February 27, 2017 at West Bridge Care Center and Rehab in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, family will be present at this time. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mary Lou Foley, daughter of William and Dora (Hermon) Hulbert, was born October 9, 1932 in Madison County. She attended school in De Soto and graduated from De Soto High School in 1950. Mary Lou was united in marriage with Denzil “Bud” Foley on June 25, 1954 in Peru, Iowa. Mary Lou was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering and entered many of her pieces in the Madison County Fair. She was a talented baker and entered many of her delicious pies in the Madison County Pork Producers Contests. Mary Lou treasured the time spent teaching her grandchildren how to bake her pies. She also worked outside the home at Callison Seed Corn, Villa West Care Center and Madison County Memorial Hospital. Mary Lou loved all animals, especially her horses and sheep. She enjoyed going to auctions and visiting with people. Above all else, Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who cherished the time spent with family and friends. Mary Lou is survived by her two sons, Roy (Julia) Foley of Winterset and Raymond (Loretta) Foley of Grimes; grandchildren, Roy (Crystell Brobst) Foley Jr., Matthew (Jessica Frye) Foley, Melissa (Matt) Nosbisch, William Foley; great grandchildren, Hailey and Logan Nosbisch; step great grandchildren, Clay, Brandon, and Kylee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dora Hulbert; husband, Denzil “Bud” Foley in 2000; grandson, Michael Foley; brother, Charles Hulbert; sisters, Marjorie Weeks and Amanda Wren.
