Neil Ramey

Neil Allen Ramey, 70 of Urbandale, passed away at home from natural causes on November 19, 2022.

Neil was born November 7, 1952 in Springfield, Missouri. Following graduating high school joined the United States Marine Corp, serving at Camp Lejeune and in Okinawa, Japan. He met and married his wife in in April of 1973, before briefly moving to Norfolk, Virginia. Following his military service, they returned to Iowa where Neil volunteered with the Clive Fire Department and worked as a systems analyst programmer for Meredith, EDS, and eventually Wells Fargo.

Neil was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was active within the community, loved fishing, playing slow pitch softball for many years and participating in ongoing bowling and golf leagues. On weekends, he could be found cheering on his grandchildren or the Hawkeyes, followed by Sundays spent as the commissioner of the IFL fantasy football league. His family takes comfort knowing that he is listening to Hotel California on repeat uninterrupted watching a Hawaiian sunset with a Mai Tai in hand.

His legacy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Sandy, brother Mark, children Tim, Katie and Grant (Scott), and grandchildren Ava and Boston.

He preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Bill Ramey.

An open house, celebration of life, will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 5:00pm-7:30pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home located at 8201 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322. While there will be no formal service, an informal opportunity to share stories and memories will begin at 6:30pm.
