Paula Louise Songer

Paula Songer, 60, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Patterson Community Building. Memorials may be directed to the family to be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in memory of Paula.

Paula was born on January 17, 1962 to Duane and Darlene (Ostrander) Younker in Perry, Iowa. She was a graduate of Winterset High School and later AIB School of Business. She married William “Bill” Songer on March 31, 1984 in Winterset. Over the years she worked as a loan underwriter, most recently with Loan Depot.

In her spare time, Paula enjoyed reading a good book. In her younger years, she liked to cross stitch sew and play cards, especially pitch. She loved her family, especially her grandkids. She never missed a game or event and always made sure to find time for them. Paula also liked to travel, taking many trips with her sisters and mother. She was a wonderful friend, mother and wife who made everyone’s lives better.

Paula is survived by her husband, Bill; mother, Darlene Younker; daughter, Rebeka “Becki” Songer; son, Mike Songer; grandchildren, Harold and Mackayla Songer, and Colin Fields; brothers, Rick (Debbie) Younker, and Ray Younker; sisters, Pam Duggan, and Pat (Ed) Lilly; brother-in-law, Bob Songer; sister-in-law, Kathy (Neil) Rogers; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Younker; in-laws, Harold and Catherine Songer; granddaughter, Katryna Fields; brother-in-law, Ed (Connie) Songer; and her grandparents.
