Ruby Ann (Belding) Holbrook was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on July 25, 1940 to Raymond and Anna Mae Belding. The oldest of four children, Ruby attended Redfield, Iowa schools, graduating in 1958. Her secretarial position took her to Fremont, NE where she met and married Blayne Holbrook in 1961. Ruby stayed home to raise her three daughters: Angela Reeg-Winterset, IA, Jill (Rick) Camden-Kennard, NE and Penny (Blaine) Wilcoxson-West Des Moines, IA, later returning to work as a CNA. She was an avid collector of all things beautiful, but especially enjoyed jewelry, antiques and Bakelite, scouring garage sales on early Saturday mornings in the hopes of bringing treasures home. From very early on, Ruby became the matriarch of the family, offering wisdom and guidance in her no-nonsense way, always generous with her time and love. She was always available, always had a solution to any problem and could tackle any situation with confidence and strength, doing so while impeccably styled! One of her greatest gifts was being a grandmother and great-grandmother, to: David (Nicole) Reeg-Denver, CO; Daniel (Claire) Reeg-Fremont, NE; Barrett and Helena Wilcoxson-West Des Moines, IA, Jordan, Jeret and Jack Camden-Kennard, NE and Claire Reeg-Denver, CO. Ruby never missed a Grandparent’s Day, gingerbread house making at school, Christmas program, birthday party or just a day at home baking cookies. She always had time and plenty of love, offering support and guidance during the good times and the struggles. Ruby passed away peacefully at home with her daughters at her side on May 17, 2021. Her beauty both inside and out, intelligence, incredible strength and generosity have been an inspiration to all that knew her and will continue to live on in her daughters and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Mae Belding; husband, Blayne Holbrook; and brother, Larry Belding. We will see you under the tree of life for that picnic, our beautiful mother and grandmother. A service to celebrate Ruby’s life will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel, Iowa on Saturday, May 22 at 10:30 am, with a luncheon to follow after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at www.caldwellparrish.com
