Ruth (Courtney) Wearmouth

Ruth Geraldine Courtney was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 27, 1922 to Ray and Julia (Orr) Courtney. She graduated from Lorimor High School in 1940 and later married Loyd E. Wearmouth in March 1944. Ruth is survived by her children, Connie Broesder (Chris K.) of Urbandale, Craig Wearmouth (Sue) of Ogden, Walter Wearmouth (Teena) of Des Moines, and Julia Wearmouth of Urbandale; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyd on February 8, 2008; and six siblings. Ruth took normal training for teachers and taught at several country schools in Union County, sometimes riding on the rail with the CGW RR section men to the rural school. She also taught in George, Iowa and returned to Lorimor in 1961, teaching until retirement in 1987. She has resided in Des Moines for the past 15 years. Ruth died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was 87. Visitation: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, with a visitation held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Lorimor Community Building in Lorimor.
