Sandra Land

Sandra Lois (Kline) Land, age 86, passed away at Edgewater on February 20, 2022. She has been a resident at Edgewater for the past 11 years. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Rd., Urbandale. A burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Sandra was born June 3, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack and Ann Kline. She was a graduate of Charles City High School, and she moved to Des Moines in 1953. She married Melvin Land and lived in Windsor Heights, where her children grew up. Sandra was a fabulous cook and homemaker. She took great pride in attending her children’s sporting events in high school and college. Sandra enjoyed knitting blankets, and she donated knitted baby caps for newborns at DM hospitals. She loved reading and she met many friends while walking inside the WDM malls. Sandra was caring and loving to her family and friends, and she always put others first. She was a blessing to all who knew her, and she touched so many lives. Sandra was actively involved in all of her children’s activities. She was member of Hadassah and Temple B’nai Jeshuran. Sandra helped manage the family-owned Sandra Apartments. Sandra is survived by her 3 children: her son, Mike Land (Kathy) of Springfield, MO; her daughters, Linda Lazar (Mark) of WDM, and Nancy Ahrens (John) of Fremont, NE; her grandchildren, Spencer Ahrens, Amy Ahrens, Mary Land, Rebecca Land and Sarah Land. Her family would like to thank the staff at Edgewater and Wesley Hospice for their care and tremendous support.
