Sharron Collier

Sharron A Collier, 78, of Des Moines, IA, passed away September 4, 2022. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Collier Sr, and Son Kenneth Collier II. A Home Going Service to celebrate Sharron’s life will be held on September 24, 2022 at Morning Star Baptist Church 3322 E. 25th St Des Moines. A visitation will start at 9:00am at the church with Home Going Service beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Cemetery.

Sharron A Green-Collier was born the 10th of 12 Children to the late George and Lillie Washington-Green in Longstreet, Louisiana

She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the Late Rev G.D. Jackson of Union Vine Baptist Church in Funston, LA.

Sharron graduated from high school in Logansport, Louisiana and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she attended the school of fashion and design where she was an advocate for voting rights. Sharron was also a chaperone to the Rev. Martin Lutheran King Jr. with his visits to Omaha. Sharron moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she met and married Kenneth Collier. To this union 2 sons were born, Kenneth II and Keith Collier. She was a employed by Des Moines Area Communitty College and CEP on Bell and Drake University. Sharron loved gardening, shopping, crossword puzzles, sewing, bible study and visiting with family, friends but mostly her grandchildren and son.

Sharron was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Collier Sr, and Son Kenneth Collier II. Sharron leaves her memory and love in the hearts of son Keith Anthony Collier of Des Moines, two grandchildren Lilly Collier and Laila Collier both of Des Moines, IA; siblings Rose Bennet of Houston, TX, Ann Green of Houston, TX, Jean Ary of Des Moines, IA, Lawrence (Gennett) of Houston, TX; Sister-in-law Mary Janes (Donald) Graves and brother-in-law William Collier. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
