Steven Stotts, 59, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2023 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was a loving husband, devoted father and cherished friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was born on October 6, 1963 to Roy and Joyce “Niehoff” Stotts in Murdo, South Dakota. He attended South Dakota State where he received his undergraduate degree then attended Indiana University where he received his Master’s Degree.
Steve had a deep love for the great outdoors, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Whether it was enjoying the peacefulness of a tree stand while watching the world wake up, casting his line and experiencing the thrill of reeling in a big catch, hunting and fishing were both passions of Steve’s. Golf was another passion that brought immense joy to Steve’s life, relishing the challenge of the game. The golf course served as a sanctuary where he could unwind, create lasting memories and forge strong friendships.
Beyond Steve’s outdoor pursuits, Steve was a dedicated family man. He adored his wife and children, and his love and support were unwavering. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy and he treasured the moments spent together. He loved spending time coaching his son’s sports, traveling the world and living life through his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kelley; children, Josh and Jordan Stotts; and parents, Roy and Joyce Stotts. He is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Sandi and Cal Fickbohm.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 16th, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 at 10:30 am at Valley Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines. Burial will follow at Waukee Cemetery. After the burial, please join the family for lunch back at Valley Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the family who will designate it towards a bench to be placed at Steve’s favorite golf course or a donation can be made to the Iowa DNR https://programs.iowadnr.gov/donations
