William "Bill" Ory

William “Bill” Ory, 81 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at his home in rural Earlham, surrounded by family. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 17 at the funeral home, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery. The family is accepting memorial contributions which will be distributed to causes important to Bill, including the Iowa FFA (https://www.iowaffafoundation.org/ory.aspx). William Alvis Ory was born on September 8, 1940 in rural Earlham on the Ory farm, the son of Marion and Dorothy Wolfe Ory. He graduated from DeSoto High School and then Iowa State University. He worked as a civil engineer for several years around the US. He then met Judith Wynkoop in Nebraska and they married in Grand Island on August 10, 1968. After living and working in Kansas City, Galveston and Memphis they returned to Bill’s roots in Madison County. On the farm, they raised three children Bill, Cindy and Andrew. Bill enjoyed farming the land and raising beef cattle. He always had a horse to care for and ride. He and Judie enjoyed many trips together with an Alaskan cruise being one of his favorites. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandkids grow. Bill is survived by his children Bill Ory of San Diego, Cindy (Curt) Pion of Dallas Center and Andrew (Stacey) Ory of Temecula, CA; grandkids, Anna, Grace and Cara Pion and Hunter and Lincoln Ory; his brothers, Larry (Vonnie), Jack (Kathy), David (RoAnne) and Denny Ory. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Judie and parents, Marion and Dorothy.
