Zachary Paul Lockhart

Zachary Lockhart passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, after a courageous five month battle with cancer and HLH – a rare blood disorder. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Zach was born Feb. 3, 1991 to Paul and Michelle Lockhart of Adel and graduated from ADM High School in 2009. He was involved in theatre and decided after high school that his true passion was screenwriting. He attended the University of Iowa from 2009 to 2011. In 2011 he followed his heart and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of making it big in the TV/film industry. He made numerous friends while working in California and always hoped to return. Zach was an optimistic and happy soul who could talk to anyone, making friends easily. He left an indelible mark on everyone he met, touching the souls of many. He is survived by his parents; his beautiful and loving sister, Dani (Matt Aldrich) Lockhart and his younger brother and special buddy, Cael. He is also survived by 35 first cousins, numerous second cousins, 14 aunts & uncles and their spouses. He was preceded by his grandparents, Al & Nancy Eble and Tom & Lorraine Lockhart; aunt Laura Jacobs & uncles Mark, Jim, Andrew, Mike, and Ricky Lockhart. Zach will be forever missed by his best and dearest friends; Davin Michael, Kate Rindy, Madison Mescher, Theresa Cigrand and Caylee Norrod. A special thanks and gratitude to his special soulmate, Breeyn Tighe, who came at a moment’s notice to love, support and offer encouragement.
