Adabell Sheets

A service for Adabell Sheets was held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Sunday with family present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Tjapkes of the First Baptist Church in Perry provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Derek Blumberg, David Canon, Jeremy Clark, Anthony Kelley, Chris Laurent and Leon McDowell. Recorded music selected was If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away and He Raised Me Up. Interment took place at Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn, Iowa. Adabell Frances Sheets, daughter of William Gronbach and Amanda Whittmarsh Gronbach, was born July 17, 1938 in Algona, Iowa and died January 20, 2015 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. She attended Irvington rural school and graduated from Algona High School. Adabell married Peter Blumberg and the couple was blessed with four children Timothy, Terry, Wonnetta and William "Bill". They lived in Michigan until their divorce in 1962. In 1968 Adabell was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Sheets and the couple lived for a time in Minburn until moving to Perry. After Jerry's death Adabell made her home with her grandson Derek and his wife April until the end of her days. She enjoyed crocheting, watching TV (especially the last few years) and eating Chinese food. She loved spending time with her family, going for walks, lawn ornaments and plants. Adabell was a member of the Legion Auxillary. Adabell was preceded in death by her parents William and Amanda Gronbach, husband Jerry Lee Sheets (2011), brothers and sisters: Paul, Tom, Betty, Bonnie, Shirley, Jim, Judy, Ernie, Albert, Joseph and Louie. Adabell is survived by her children Timothy Blumberg of Grand Junction, IA, Terry Blumberg of Davenport, IA, Wonnetta Pennybaker of Des Moines, IA and William "Bill" Blumberg of Woodward, IA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
