Adam Charles Stearns, 27, of Des Moines, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 28th, 2016 at his home. Adam, son of Brent and Kim Stearns, was born on July 14th, 1989 in Ames, Iowa. Adam’s family later moved to Ottumwa, IA where he attended Eisenhower Elementary. Later they moved to Des Moines, IA where Adam attended Des Moines Christian, Moore Elementary, Meredith Middle School, and Hoover High School. During his time at Hoover, Adam was actively involved in band and drama. He developed a love and gift for entertaining others. He performed in concert band, marching band, several plays, and improvisational sketches. He graduated from Hoover High School in 2008. He was passionate about films. His DVD collection was impressive, but his movie knowledge was extraordinary. For the past few years he was employed at Olive Garden in West Des Moines where he enjoyed serving and entertaining customers and the comradery of his coworkers. Adam was a genuine friend to many throughout his life. He was eager to share a hug and kind word. Adam is preceded in death by his grandparents Nora and Ed Cocciola, grandfather Bill Stearns, and uncle Mark Stearns. Adam will be deeply missed by his parents, Brent and Kim; brother, Ryan; sister Sarah Harvey (Erik); and nephew, Finn. He is also survived by his grandmother, Helen Stearns; uncles and aunts, Scott (Mary), Brion, Barbara, Gregg (Mindi), Craig (Anne), Jill (Brian), and Debi (Gary); cousins, Kaytee, Laura, Abigail, A.J., Grace, Megan (Ricardo), Isaac, Alex, Josiah, Benjamin, Christina, Dominick, Joel (Amanda), Nicolai, Austin, Aaron (Nalani), Caleb (Megan), and Zach. Adam will be remembered fondly by all family, friends, and coworkers. A Visitation will be held at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, IA at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Adam was an organ donor.
