A Funeral Service for Adele Dorette Carrel was held 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Rev. Paul Burrows from the United Methodist Church in Perry, provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were Bruce Klein, Kirby Hamman, Kerry Burton, Jerry Swigert and Ralph Fogue. Casket bearers were Joe Royer, Gene Dorman, David McDowell, Joe McCarty, Leon McDowell and Bill Kempf. Dennis Morgan was the musician. The hymns chosen were How Great Thou Art and Just A Closer Walk With Thee. A lunch was served after the service before going to Glenwood Cemetery, in Ogden. Adele Dorette Carrel was born January 11, 1921, Boone County, Iowa, to Richard Henry Tingwald and Marie Cook. She passed away June 26, 2014 at the Perry Health Care Center, Perry, at the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Adele attended country school in Boone County and graduated from Woodward High School. Adele was a rural school teacher until her marriage to Marlin Carrel. They had a daughter Cheryl on September 28, 1944. They made their home on a farm south of Ogden until their retirement. They then moved to their home in Boone. Adele enjoyed working with her many kinds of flowers in her garden. She has lived at Perry Health Care Center since October 2011. Adele was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marlin; her daughter Cheryl Carrel, on March 15, 2009; her sister Martella Ely and her brother Granville Tingwald. She is survived by her sisters; Rose Burton of Perry, Charlotte Wicks of Perry and Frances Hamman of Woodward; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
