Agnes "Aggie" Potycki (Plewa) was born December 24th, 1926, in Glass Hutte, Germany. Her father, Johann, was born in 1898, and her mother, Lucja (Cirpka), was born on May 31st, 1898. Before World War II, Johann and Lucja and their five children, Helen, Hubert, Josef, Bernard, and Anges, moved to Milicz, Germany (presently Polish territory).
During WW II, Aggie was forced to work in a military hospital for the German Government; once the War ended, Aggie worked in a beauty and barber shop in Garbsen near Hannover, Germany, until 1951. She married Henry Wolff and emigrated to the United States. Settling in Des Moines, Iowa, she renewed her beautician's license and worked at Roosevelt Beauty Shop for seven years. In 1960, Aggie became a stay-at-home mother with her daughter Stephanie. From 1970 to 1984, Aggie worked for Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
On March 10th, 1984, Aggie married Peter Potycki, who had three daughters, Boguslawa (Bobbi), Jola, and Anna (Ania). Aggie has always been a loving and kind wife and mother; she was talented in many ways, had a passion for baking, crocheting, and loved crafting.
Grandma Aggie was dearly loved by her grandchildren Jessica, Brandi, Chad, Adam, Jennifer, and Michael, and by her great-grandchildren Logan, Samantha, Violet, Sloane, Isabella, Kent, Charlotte, Sadie, Cameron, Audrey, and Veronica.
Aggie was a gift to us all and will be missed immensely.
