Alberta Mary Knoll

Alberta Mary Knoll, daughter of John H. Stockburger and Mary Rose Wolber Stockburger, was born September 24, 1911 on a farm north of Bouton, Iowa, and died March 21, 2009 at the Dallas County Hospital, Perry, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 27 days. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 26, 2009, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Perry, Iowa. The Pastor, of the church, Lou Hoger, provided words of comfort. The church organist, Linda Huntington played the congregational Hymn What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Honorary casket bearers were Michael Knight, Dean Nath, Eddie Mabry and Richard Ely. Alberta's casket Bearers were Tim Wilbur, Ed Knoll, Dale Knoll, Orville Folden, Ron Rothfus and Mike Cleland. Burial was in Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, Iowa. Alberta graduated from Bouton High School. She married Frank E. Knight and they were parents of two children, Keith and Roberta. Alberta worked in various places including J. C. Penney Store in Perry where she worked for many years, retiring in 1985. In earlier days she had worked at the Dime Store and the Sweet Corn Factory in Perry. Alberta married Arthur Paul Knoll in July of 1955. They made their home on a farm north of Dallas Center-Grimes. They both semi-retired in 1968 and moved into Perry where they lived on McKinley Street. She enjoyed her membership in Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Webster Garden Club and the J.C. Penney Retiree group. Alberta also enjoyed flowers, gardening, Bible Study, crafts, and handwork. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and step-sons, Dale and David Knoll; 3 grandchildren James, Jeri Lyn and Janelle Andrews; her son-in-law Tom Andrews; two daughters-in-law Juanita Knight and Daisy Knight. Alberta is survived by her son Keith Knight of Woodward, IA; daughter Roberta Mabry (Donald) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; two step-children, Robert Knoll (Kay) of Dallas Center and Shirley Andrews of Des Moines; step-daughter-in-law Daisy Knoll of Flora Vista, New Mexico. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Michael Knight, Susan Wilbur (Tim), Carla Jordan (John), Ed Knoll (Alice), Mary Ripol, Paul Knoll (Pam), Robert Knoll Jr. (Carrie), Krissy Dallman (Derick), Kathleen Steenlage (Joh), Karolyn Yong (Alan); 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and sister Thelma Foster (Alan) of Wheatland, WY; other relatives and friends. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the funeral service, before going to Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes.
