Our Superhero Not so long ago in a land not so far away a very special boy was born. He would be called Alex. As Alex began to grow the world would soon learn what his parents already knew, that he is no ordinary boy but rather a superhero in the making. Alex’s superhero powers aren’t that he can fly, see with x-ray vision, throw web shooters from his hands, or smash through buildings with superhuman strength. Alex’s superhero powers are far more important for the future of humanity…..always putting others first; showing compassion toward his family, friends and strangers; being a protector of his siblings; making others smile and laugh with his energetic personality; showing kindness towards all animals; always willing to share a hug; and no matter what the odds NEVER, EVER giving up. Superheroes come in all different forms, have all different disguises, and have many different qualities. One thing we know for sure is that our world and humanity is a better place with a superhero like Alex silently teaching us about grace, strength and the beauty of life, and reminding us that each day is truly a gift from God. Our family would like to send a special thank you to all the countless “superheroes” who have joined forces with us along the way, quietly and contentedly living in anonymity…..we would not be able to walk this journey without you. To honor our Superhero Alex a visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory in Urbandale, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Carrying on Alex’s mission are his parents, Paul and Michelle; brothers, Brandon and Michael; sister, Madison; grandparents; aunts; uncles; friends; and many other countless lives he has touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alex's family.
