Alice Pearl Byers

Pearl Byers, age 91, passed away Friday March 27th, 2015 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1st, 2015 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory, Urbandale. Burial will follow in the Lowman Cemetery, in Runnells. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31st at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory. Pearl was a long time resident of both Runnells and Des Moines and was an alumnus of Lincoln High School. She and her husband, Dean, married in 1944 and owned The Venetian Blind Laundry. Pearl also enjoyed working at Dahls on Ingersoll for many years. She was an active member of College Avenue Christian Church and was passionate about their mission of providing dinner at the Central Iowa Shelter in Des Moines. Pearl loved gardening, spending time with her family, spoiling her children and grandchildren and cooking for everyone. Pearl is survived by her children, Karen Evison, Bill (Cheryl) Byers, Barbara (Doug) Schnoor and Gary Byers and Olivia DeYoung; daughter-in-law, Linda Byers; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean; son Michael; and her brothers Charles and Glen Bowers. Memorial contributions may be given to the Central Iowa Shelter & Services.
