Alma Erickson, 97, of Lorimor, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. A private family burial will be at a later date in the Lorimor Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Alma Marie Lilie, daughter of Carl and Marie (Fricke) Lilie, was born May 10, 1918, in Persia, Iowa. She graduated from Van Meter High School in 1935. Alma continued her education at the Thomson Beauty School in Des Moines. She cut hair in Winterset for a number years before she met Wayne Erickson. Alma and Wayne were united in marriage in August of 1941, at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter. Three children were born to this union. The couple farmed near Lorimor and worked at the Lorimor Post Office. Alma worked as a clerk before taking over as the Post Master in Lorimor. She was a member the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. Alma was a fantastic cook, seamstress and quilter. In her free time, Alma enjoyed fishing, playing cards, painting, reading and putting puzzles together. Above all else she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished nothing more than the time spent with her family and friends. Alma is survived by two sons, John Erickson of Dallas Center; Tim (Cheryl) Erickson of Lorimor; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; son-in-law Jim Lawyer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne in 1979; daughter, Kathy Lawyer; brothers, Carl, Paul and Marvin; sisters, Esther, Clara, Paula and Anita.
