Family will greet friends from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m A celebration of life service for Alvin Ray Hogge was held 10:00 a.m. July 11, 2014 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2014 with family present 5-8 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home. Rev. Charlene Wolfe of the United Methodist Church in Bagley, Iowa provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Sara Garrard, Jeff Bator, Lukas Nawrocki, Steven Chapman, Scott Smith and Mike Hodges. Music selected was You'll Be There by George Strait and the Dance by Garth Brooks. Interment took place at Richland Township Cemetery in Bagley, Iowa. Following the service at the cemetery a luncheon was provided at the Jamaica Community Center. Alvin Ray Hogge was born October 7, 1950 in Jefferson, Iowa to Dale and Norma (Cabelka) Hogge and passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2014. He graduated from Y.J.B. Community Schools and attended college at DMACC. Alvin began working at Oscar Mayer in Perry and later spent most of his career as a blackjack and craps dealer, starting at Boomtown Casino in Reno, Nevada. He additionally took pride in being a Dance Instructor. Alvin's biggest passion was dancing, but he also enjoyed spending time outdoors; biking, kayaking, and taking his dog, Bryce, to play in the park. Alvin is survived by his mother, Norma (Cabelka) Hogge of Bagley, IA, his son, Chris Hogge and his wife Jennifer of Johnston, IA, two grandchildren, Noah and Lydia Hogge; sisters Shirley Chapman and her husband Steve of Bagley, IA, Karen Smith and husband Scott of Montrose, IA, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
