Alvin V. Davis

Alvin V. Davis, 87, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022. Al was born March 23, 1935 to parents Ethel (Blackford) Davis and Lawrence Davis. He attended Dowling Catholic High School until he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952, serving his country for two tours. He spent many years in the Teamster's union prior to his retirement. Al was a loyal friend, a great brother, and a proud grandfather. He liked to garden, ate every dessert he could get his hands on, and was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers for his entire adult life. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He loved music and was an excellent dancer. Al had many passions in life and lived it to the fullest. Al is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jennifer Davis, and his siblings: Wayne, Lyle, John, and Alfred "Verle" Davis, Lucille Holmes, Zelda Wilson, and Sheila Garland. He is survived by his granddaughter, Samantha Perkins, siblings Gary Davis and Betty Wallace, and many friends. Al will be interred in the memorial wall at the Veteran's Cemetery in Adel, IA at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28th. There will be an informal celebration of life held at Joe's Pub in Johnston, IA at 12:00 p.m. following the interment.
