Remembrance of Sardar Amarjit Singh Ji Walia’s Life.
Sardar Amarjit Singh Ji Walia was born on the 15th of December, 1935 to Sardar Kartar Singh Ji Walia and Sardarni Sumittar Kaur Walia.
Before moving to the United States in 1986, and despite having lost his father at the tender age of 17, he achieved great success in India from attaining a Bachelor’s Degree to securing a nice job with Corona Sahu Shoe Company where, through his hard work, brilliance and business acumen he rose to the ranks of a top executive in the company. As the eldest son, he also assumed a lot of the responsibility of taking care of his mother and six siblings. He married Surinder Kaur Jhodka in 1965 who was the love of his life and was proud father of Ameeta (Baby) and Gurmeet (Lal Ji).
When his mother affectionately known as “Mata Ji” decided to live in the United States, he followed suit to remain close to her and join his siblings.
One of his joys in his life came when his beloved daughter, Ameeta married Gurwinder Singh Kapur, in April 1993. He was blessed with a grandson, Jeevanjot Singh Kapur in December 1999. who was nothing short of being the apple of his Nanu’s eyes.
Very affectionately known as “Bhaisab” to his siblings and “Bhaisab Uncle” to his many nephews and their families, he was loved and respected by all, young and old, for his ever endearing smile, his positive outlook and his respectful ways.
He had a profound love for poetry, ghazals, classic songs as well as older movies. His favorite movies were Mughal E Azam, Pakeeza, and Waqt.
During his life’s journey he was inspired by his mother (MataJi) to pray more leading him to be closer to Waheguru. He could recite the complete set of prayers (Nitnem) even until the last few days in his life. Earlier in life, his strong connection to the divine. This gave him great strength and faith to accept the Guru ji’s will when he lost his two younger sisters, Surinder Kaur Ahluwalia and Manjit Kaur Walia.
