Amy Jean Light - Adel

Amy Jean Light, 52, passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 8, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM. Amy was born March 27, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Helen (Quick) Hall. She graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School in 1978. She was known to her family and close friends as a loving mother, daughter, and friend who would do anything for those around her. She was also strong willed and independent. She worked as a claims assistant for AIG/Chartis Insurance for over 20 years. She enjoyed the simpler things in life such as gardening, cooking, art, which was a special talent of hers, and spending time with friends and family. She was especially proud of her daughter, Savannah, who survives her. She also leaves behind her mother, Helen Hall; nephew , Justin Vander Ecken; sisters; aunts; uncles; and cousins. She was preceded by her father and one baby brother.
