Andy Hartman, 74, of Winterset passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home.
Arthur Andrew Hartman was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 27, 1950 to Dale and Margaret (John). His dad was in the service and when he came home on leave, his parents got married. He then had a sister born, Jamie Rae. That marriage ended in divorce. Two years later, Dale and Kate (Bindel) got married and raised Andy while Jamie lived with her mother in Chicago.
Andy went to Winterset High School, graduating in 1969. The lottery system was in the draft then, and he drew #18, so he served two years in the Army, spending one year in Vietnam. Then he worked for the packing plant, the post office, other various jobs, and was still helping Allen Akers with septic systems. Andy also worked many sales with Hartman Auctioneering, which he loved doing. It was his fun time.
Andy was building himself a neat little place to live in and was nearly ready to move in.
Survivors include his stepmother, Kate Hartman; brother, Ted (Billi Jo) Hartman; niece, Jessica Lynn Hartman; uncle, Steve (Beccy) Hartman; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Hartman; sister, Jamie Rae Williams; grandmother, Opal Huddleson; grandfather, Arthur Hartman; and grandparents, George and Ruth Bindel.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, at the Winterset Cemetery.
