Angela Klier-Brunk

Angela Klier-Brunk died early Saturday, January 20, 2018. She passed peacefully surrounded by family at Urbandale Healthcare Center. She was 60 years old. Angela is survived by her husband Ray Brunk; her two sons Ryan (Alyssa) Young and Aaron Young; her mother Shirley Klier; her brothers Frank (Lucy) Klier, Jim (Colette) Klier and Michael (Susan) Klier; her sisters Julie (Tommie) Bannor and Suzanne (Mike) Umphfleet; her stepchildren David Brunk, Sara Gibson, Mallory Brunk and Megan Brunk; and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father, James Klier Sr., and her daughter, Kimberly Young. Born Angela Marie Klier on December 23, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, she is the oldest of six children. Angela graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976. She attended Grand View University before working as a nursing assistant at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She later worked for the United States Postal Service in downtown Des Moines until she retired in October 2015. Angela enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching her boys play baseball, cuddling with her dog, weekend trips to nearby cities, sunsets at Saylorville Lake and finding sweet deals at garage sales. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. Guests are invited to share their memories of Angela starting at 6 p.m. A private family burial will be held the following day at Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the following organizations: On With Life; Brain Injury Alliance; Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
